Drug-Screen® 7-Aminoclonazepam rapid test
For the detection of 7-Aminoclonazepam in urine · Cut-off level: 200 ng/mL
Benzodiazepine – from medication to addiction Benzodiazepines are amongst the most commonly prescribed medications worldwide. Considered a safer alternative, they have long since replaced barbiturates in the treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders. Nevertheless, high doses and longterm use can still lead to dependency.
One of the most common benzodiazepines on the market is clonazepam, which is available under the brand name Klonopin or Rivotril. It is used as a sedative, anxiety relief and in the prevention of epileptic fits. Clonazepam is primarily metabolised to 7-Aminoclonazepam (7-ACL). Up to 70% of a dose can be detected in its metabolite form in urine for up to 7 days. Should clonazepam be consumed regularly over a longer time period, the detection window can extend to up to 3 weeks.
Closing a gap in diagnostics Both clonazepam and 7-ACL have a different lead substance from that which is detected by most benzodiazepine rapid tests, meaning that they will not be picked up in screening tests. For this reason, rapid tests were developed to specifically detect clonazepam. However, only dose traces appear in urine, too little for proper detection. With the 7-ACL rapid test, nal von minden has taken a different approach. We have closed the diagnostic gap by clearly and reliably detecting the most important indicator of benzodiazepine use – its metabolite.
